Glucose molecule

Glucose

GlucoseQ

  • Study the chemical structure of the glucose molecule and answer the questions.
    (i) Make a key to show which colours represent which elements in this structure.
(ii) Count and mention the number of atoms of each element in the structure.
(iii) Based on the above two answers, write the molecular formula of glucose.

Ans i) Black for carbon, white for hydrogen, and red for oxygen, but the color code can vary depending on the source or reference.

Ans ii) The chemical structure of glucose contains 6 carbon (C) atoms, 12 hydrogen (H) atoms, and 6 oxygen (O) atoms.

Ans iii)Therefore, the molecular formula for glucose is \(C_6H_{12}O_6\).
